I came into this world
in November, 1957. I was a shy child, but when I finally
started talking, my mom says the first words to come to
my mouth were, "See the clock!" Funny how clock
watching became my career, from producing commercials
for the Des Moines Radio Group, to having a great time
playing KRNT's great songs. Some of my earliest memories
include KRNT...like listening to "Alley Cat"
when I was a kid, hearing Dean Martin croon over KRNT
on our way to the state fair, and being interviewed at
age 7 by KRNT's Russ Van Dyke as my grandma and I came
out of a downtown department store. It took over 20 years
for me to come to KRNT professionally. Before then, I
attended Grandview College while working at Iowa Public
Television and KSO radio. After graduation, I had fun
in Fort Dodge radio, and played easy listening music in
Ames. I came to KRNT and Q-102 in 1988, the same year
Cynthia and I were married. I love KRNT's tunes and I
also love the harmonies of ABBA and Manhattan Transfer,
the fun music of the Monkees, the nostalgic sound of Leon
Redbone, and even a bit of Bach and Vivaldi. My hobbies
include collecting vintage animation, classic sitcoms,
and enjoying tapes of old TV and radio commercials. When
Cynthia and I travel, we like to hang around Hollywood
soundstages, exlpore the parks in Orlando, and find a
spot gulfside in sugar-white Florida sands.
